The Client: Family home.

The Brief: Lower the levels of the lawn to allow for the house to sit better in the landscape. Incorporate a conservatory and enlarge the rear terrace. Improve access to the existing swimming pool. Plant a multigenerational British native woodland on one third of the meadow at the far boundary. Create a flower and herb garden near the kitchen entrance. Improve on privacy along the boundaries of the property.

Concept Design: We created sweeping stepped landforms to lower levels. Direct access from the terrace to the swimming pool. Long open vistas but also intimate small private places. The native woodland is now a destination with intentionally designed paths that leads from the meadow through the woodland.
